Excursion

Flight to Tashkent.

Arrival in Tashkent International Airport named after Islam Karimov, first President of Uzbekistan.

Migration formalities usually take 20 min to 60 min: visa/passport control and baggage claim. Come out of the terminal and meet the staff holding a sign “ANUR TOUR” or with your name on it.

Start sightseeing tour of Tashkent (5-6 hrs) visiting old and new parts of the city:

Amir Timur Square, founded in 1882 and originally called Konstantinovsky Square, was renamed on August 31, 1994 after of the Amir Timur to honor the cultural and historical contribution of the great conqueror.

Theater Square with the Opera House: State Academic Theater of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi built in 1947 is one of the best opera theater of the world performs both classical and national repertoires. 

Independence Square, the main square of Uzbekistan reflects the past, present and future of the country. There are fountains standing for the life energy of Uzbek people, the Cabinet and the Senate, the “Eternal flame" in honor of soldiers who died during the Second World War.
Earthquake Memorial, the composition is devoted to the tragic date of earthquake in Tashkent on April 26, 1966, and is erected in the approximate place of the earthquake epicenter. Residents still come to the monument to honor those people who took a part in the reconstruction of Tashkent;

Khast Imam Square – a religious center of the city consisting of the Barakkhan madrasah; Kaffal Shashi Mausoleum and the library of Islamic Literature with the Holy Koran Book of the VII century (original Quran Othman). Khast Imam is one of the most significant spiritual centers in Central Asia and attracts the pilgrims and visitors all over the world.

Chorsu bazaar – the ancient bazaar of Tashkent. “Chorsu” means “four waters”, symbolically meaning the conjunction of four major parts of the old city in the bazaar where people come for trades. The bazaar beautiful blue dome, built in traditional style after the Tashkent earthquake, is often depicted in postcards and international magazines and became one of the major sights of interest both for locals and guests – one can see oriental tiled bazaar from different souvenir shops with ceramics, handicraft works, carpets and jewelry, the whole pavilion full of delirious fruits to the finest textiles and colorful fabrics.

Tashkent Metro (the first line was launched in 1977) with beautiful train stations each decorated in thematic style with traditional ornaments and special lightning.

Start walking excursion in the historical part of Khiva – Ichan-kala (translated as “Inner town”). Ichan-kala - the largest Museum in the open air in Central Asia consisting of :

Ata-Darvaza, Kunya- Ark;

Madrassah of Muhammad Rahim Khan;

Madrassah of Muhammed Aminhan;

Kalta Minor, the Palace of the Allakulihan Khan of Khiva;

Tash Hauli, where the harem of 40 concubines was;

Caravanserai and Tim Allakulihan;

Pahlavan Mahmud Gates, Mausoleum of Seyd Allaudin,

Pahlavan Mahmud Mausoleum - one of the best works of Khivian architecture - mausoleum of Pahlavan Mahmud - done in the tradition of Khorezm architecture of XVIII-XIX centuries  and Pahlavan Mahmud Gates,

Islam-Khoja Madrassah - was built in 1908 by Islam-Hoja of the Prime Minister of Khan. The minaret is a symbol of the country, is an early example of the architecture of the XIV century.

Transfer Khiva to Bukhara by car (475 km, 7 hrs) via Kyzylkum desert OR transfer by train (depending on train schedule).

Start WALKING sightseeing program in Bukhara (5-6 hours):

Ensemble Lyabi Hauz (Nadir Divanbegi Madrassa, Khanaka, Kukeldash Madrassa and the monument of Khodja Nasreddin);

Magoki Attari Mosque is one of the oldest mosques survived in Bukhara from the time before the Mongolian invasion;

Abdullakhan’s Tim with numerous handicraft shops of souvenirs, ceramics, national clothes, and carpets;

- Caravanserai Sayfuddin (the Center of Handicraft Development of Bukhara);

- There are three trading domes or so called covered bazaars Toki Sarrofon, Toki Telpak Furushon, and Toki Zargaron preserved from the XVI century and these bazaars were the centers for trade of silk, jewelry and even for money exchange. Today as well, one can enjoy and purchase different souvenirs of a wide range, from small souvenir magnets to the famous Bukhara carpets;

- Visit Ulugbek and Abdulazizkhan Madrassas or so-called Kosh (pare) madrassas opposite each other with the distinctive style of facade ornamental decoration;

Poi Kalon Square with Kalon Minaret and Mosque, Mir Arab Madrassa – the heart of Bukhara, a monumental complex impresses the imagination;

Ark Fortress – the oldest citadel dating back to I century BC where one can feel the history of the great fortress covered in beautiful legends and myths.

Samanids mausoleum (IX century), a monument of early medieval architecture.

Naqshbandi mausoleum (the founder of Naqshbandi Sufi Spiritual order) Located near Bukhara the memorial complex of Bakhauddin Nakshbandi is considered as one of the most significant religious places of Bukhara that attracts many visitors as well as pilgrims.  The memorial was rebuilt several times in XIV - each Emir of Bukhara wanted to build something new near the mausoleum. This complex impresses with its incomparable style of oriental architecture, which reflects the spirit of the Sufi Order.

Start sightseeing program in Samarkand (6 hours):

Gur Emir Mausoleum – a burial vault of Timur the Great and his descendants decorated with gold ornaments and considered as one of the most significant places in the world;

- Continue to the famous Registan Square – the heart of Samarkand and a real masterpiece of Central Asian medieval architecture consists of three grandiose buildings: Ulughbek Madrassa, Madrassa Sherdor, and Madrassa Tilla Kori.

Bibi Khanim Mosque – the biggest medieval building in the city which was one of the most magnificent mosques in the Islamic world in 15th Century;

Shahi Zinda Necropolis – unique complex of Mausoleums  formed by standing on both sides of the cenotaph (an imaginary grave) belonging to the Muslim person named Saint Abbas ibn-Kussam;

Ulugbek’s Observatory – the finest astronomical centers in the medieval world was built by order of Ulugbek, an outstanding scholar and astronomer;

Samarkand bazaar – Siyab.

09:00 Meet the guide. Start sightseeing program in Samarkand visiting (5-6 hrs):

– Shahi Zinda Necropolis – unique complex of Mausoleums on both sides of the cenotaph (an imaginary grave) of Abbas ibn-Kussam;

– Ulugbek’s Observatory – the finest astronomical centers in the medieval world was built by order of Ulugbek, an outstanding scholar and astronomer;

– Mausoleum of Hoji Doniyor also known as Saint Daniel.

– Paper factory "Meros”  in Konigil village that produces unique paper that can be preserved for more than and is used in craftworks.

08:00 Transfer to border post Jartepa. Border crossing usually takes 30 min-1 hr.

Meet the guide and driver at Tajikistan part of the border.

 Start sightseeing tour in Penjikent visiting: 

-The Sarazm (UNESCO World Heritage) lies downstream of the city on the tugay-vegetated floodplain of the river.

Transfer to Marguzor, the famous seven lakes - seven wonderful water mirrors full of mountain riverside drops. Each lake looks different whenever the sun changes its position. Colors may vary from deep blue to indie color ripple. Most of them are cold to swim even in summer. These lakes belong to Fann Mountains system.

On the western edge of the Fan Mountains in the valley of the river Shing there are seven lakes, six of them are dammed origin, besides the lake Hazorchashma. Lakes are called Marguzor, but each lake has its own name: Nezhigon, Soybean, Gushor, Nofin, Hurdak, Marguzor, Hazorchashma. The difference in level between the upper and lower lake is 692 meters. Easy hike at the lakes. Lunch at the guesthouse.

Return to Penjikent.

Transfer to Khujand via Iskanderkul lake. 

Iskanderkul lake, a real pearl of Fan mountains (located at an altitude of 2 100 meters above sea level). There’re a lot of legends, interesting stories about the lake and our guide will tell you all of them. 
-Easy hiking in the surroundings to Snake Lake (Ko'li Mor) that is famous for its priscine water.
-Waterfall that local call "Fan Niagara" (height 38 meters) situated 800 m below the Iskandar river. It’s very beautiful here and you will have a chance to make beautiful pictures. 
 Lunch at the guest house.

Continue to Khujand, evening arrival. Transfer to the hotel.

09:00 Start sightseeing tour in Khujand:

- Khujand, the second-largest city and one of the oldest cities in Tajikistan, the furthest point Alexander the Great reached in Central  Asia, so the city was named  Alexandria  Eschate (Alexandria the Furthest).

Pushkin square with Kamoli Khudjandi Square;

Timur Malik’s fortress and Sugd museum; 

Muslihiddin memorial complex;

Panjshanbe bazaar (The name Panjshanbe comes from Persian language meaning “Thursday”) is one of the oldest markets in Tajikistan;

- Arbob Palace received its particular significance in 1992, when it was the place for the meeting of the Tajik Soviet ministers which officially declared independence from the Soviet Union. Also, it was the site where the Tajik flag was chosen.

Transfer to border Oybek.

15:00 Border crossing usually takes 30 min - 1 hr.

16:00 Meet the driver at Uzbekistan part of the border. Transfer to Tashkent.

Countryside sightseeing in Tashkent, please choose one of the options below (guide and transport services are included for 5- 6 hrs).  Because the program today can be flexible, the entrance fees today are not included, tourists can buy the entrance tickets at the ticket offices on their own.

Opt 1. Chimgan Tour

10:00 Meet the driver and guide at the hotel. Transfer to Chimgan Mountains area, 120 km from Tashkent, about 1,5 –2 hrs one way.

-  Amirsoy cable way ride. Entrance fees in Amirsoy complex/ Amirsoy cable way are not included, visitors can buy entrance tickets at the tickets offices of Amirsoy.

- Take a photo stop with panoramic views to Charvak Lake and Chimgan mounts.

After lunch in the local café in the place called Bochka, transfer back to Tashkent. Arrival in Tashkent (ETA by 17:00).

 


Opt 2. Sun Institute and Uzumfermer.

08:30 Meet the guide and driver. Transfer to Parkent (45 km, ~1 hour on the way)

The Big Solar Furnace- the heliotechnical complex is one of the two largest solar structures in the world.  Due to its ideal location, Parkent Solar Furnace has a number of advantages that contribute to the accumulation of environmentally friendly solar energy. 

The visitors can participate in simple experiments and watch the work of solar panels - heliostats, compare electronic and sundials, boil water and learn how to light Olympic fire.

Lunch break at one of the local cafes in the shady groves of Sukok village

Winery Uzumfermer (excursion around the winery and winetasting of local wines. Entrance fees to be paid at the winery ticket office).

Transfer to Tashkent (1 hour). Transfer to the hotel.

Tashkent chimes, one of major symbols of Tashkent, were brought from defeated Koenisberg in 1945 as a sign of the great victory and eternal glory of patriots who fought in World War II.

Theatre Square with the Opera House: State Academic Bolshoi Theatre of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi builit in 1947 is one of the best opera theatres of the world performs both classical and national repertoires.

Independence Square, the main square of Uzbekistan. There are fountains, the “Eternal flame" in honor of soldiers of World War, arch " Good and noble aspiration" crowned with birds of happiness and prosperity, road "Ok Yul" leading to Independence Monument and a monument to Happy Mother symbolizing the hope for a great future.

Transfer to Charyn Canyon. Sightseeing in the "Valley of Castles".

Charyn Canyon is a natural complex, unique in its kind not only in Kazakhstan but also worldwide. It was formed during Paleogene and reminds the Grand Canyon of Colorado River in North America, although inferior to it in size. The height of the steep slopes of the canyon is up to 150-300 meters. Extraordinary dissection of the terrain is striking: the numerous ravines form a dense, chaotic network. Wind and water have created the beautiful "Valley of Castles", where you are always surrounded by the fancy towers composed of sedimentary rocks. The length of the valley - more than 2 km, width - 20-80 meters. For millions of years the nature has been creating a unique architecture, erecting magnificent castles carefully and slowly.

Transfer to Kolsai Lakes, easy hiking near Kolsai lake 1 (1800 m above sea level).

Later continue driving to Saty Village. Dinner and overnight in guesthouse.

09:00  Transfer to one of the most beautiful places of Kazakhstan, Kaindy Gorge.

Kaindy lake (Birch Lake) is situated among magnificent pine forest at an altitude of 2000 meters above sea level and is famous for its origin. It was formed in 1911 due to the powerful earthquake that triggered the landslide blocked the valley with the natural dam, and the water has flooded the valley. The water of the lake is very cold, that is why the needles of the flooded trees are well-preserved and clearly visible through the transparent surface of the water. Dry stems of fir trees overlook the water surface, like the masts of the submarines, this priscine place is charming with its mystical splendor.

Transfer to Kegen-Karjyra border, border passing formalities usually take 30 min- 1 hrs.

Continue transfer to Karakol. Arrival in the evening.

09:00 Start sightseeing in Karakol:

- Przhevalski memorial, who was a Great Russian Explorer of 19th century.

- The wooden Russian-orthodox church;

Dungan mosque is one of the most famous places in Karakol town. The most interesting thing is that it is built without a single metal nail. More than 100 years ago there was a Chinese master who lived in this town. Dungans are people from China who had Muslim religion. The construction was made of bricks and wood and decorated with various ornaments.

Transfer to Tamga village.

Jeti Oguz gorge is famous for its red rocks formations that have the name Seven Bulls – Jeti Oguz. One can see there the Broken Heart Mountain, one of the most popular places among locals and visitors, the valley is also known as Valley of flowers.

Issyk-Kyl lake is located in the north-eastern part of the Kyrgyz Republic. Issyk Kul is translated as “hot Lake” and is considered as one of the pearls of Central Asia. Due to the salty water, Issyk Kul possesses curative qualities.

Arrival in Tamga village.

Transfer to Kochkor village, nature sightseeing en-route:

- Skazka (Fairy tale) Canyon and enjoy an easy hike among the impressive with its colorful red rocks.

- Eagle show in Bokonbayevo (traditional eagle hunting).

Transfer to Kochkor village. Dinner and overnight in the guesthouse.

09:00 Transfer to Son Kul lake, with nature sightseeing en-route:

-Son-Kul Lake is one of Kyrgyzstan’s most beautiful high-altitude lakes, located at 3,016 meters above sea level. It is famous for stunning landscapes, nomadic culture, and summer pastures (jailoos) where shepherds bring their livestock.

Arrival in Son Kul by lunch time, leisure time after the trip. 

Experience traditional Kyrgyz nomadic life by staying in a yurt. Enjoy local hospitality, homemade Kyrgyz meals. 

Horse-riding near the lake, photo time.

Evening at leisure, because Son Kul is located in distant area from the villages and towns, at night there is no light pollution and the place is perfect for stargazing.

Dinner and overnight in yurt.

Morning at leisure, easy hiking in Son Kul area and mountain passes over 3400 m.

 

Transfer to Chonkemin valley, en-route nature sightseeing.

Chon-Kemin is a stunning valley and national park located about 150 km east of Bishkek, between the Kungey Ala-Too and Ili Alatau mountain ranges. It’s a great place for nature, hiking, and cultural experiences in a peaceful setting.

The valley is perfect for landscape photography and relaxing leisure enjoying the beautiful nature of Chon Kemin valley.

Dinner and overnight in a traditional guesthouse.

Transfer to Bishkek with sightseeing en-route:

Ala Archa Natural park (~35 km from Bishkek, ~ 40min)

Take an easy walk high up to observe the view of mountains and rich Kyrgyz nature, spectate birds and animals living their lives, watch how cold water of Kyrgyz rivers falling down the mountains and continue its way among ancient trees and gorge itself.

Time to explore the area, take photos, and enjoy the fresh air and beautiful nature.

Transfer to Bishkek.
