09:00 Meeting with the driver and guide in the hotel lobby.
Departure to Parkent (45 km, ~1 hour on the way)
Parkent is a small town at the foot of the Tien Shan Mountains, with a population of about 40 thousand inhabitants. Chimgan rises above them, wrapped in snow and clouds, guarding the beauty of flowering vineyards in the foothills of the Chatkal Range.
The Big Solar Furnace is visible from afar- the heliotechnical complex was built in 1987 and is one of the two largest solar structures in the world. The "sister" furnace is in Italy and it is slightly more powerful in performance. The Uzbek Solar furnace makes it possible to conduct many researches, the power of the Sun is used in civil and space purposes, like firing heat-resistant ceramics. Samples of its products are presented in the hall of the Institute.
Due to its ideal location, Parkent Solar Furnacehas a number of advantages that contribute to the accumulation of environmentally friendly solar energy. Solar beam concentrators consist of 10,700 mirrors and in sunny weather (290 days a year) give out temperatures up to 3000 degrees.
During the tour, you can visit the research site, where visitors are given the opportunity to participate in simple experiments and watch the work of small but powerful solar panels - heliostats in action: compare electronic and sundials, boil water and cook food on a mini solar oven and learn how to light Olympic fire.
